在一份名为"Juniper Networks and Microsoft Announce Unified Access Control and Network Access Protection to Interoperate"的新闻稿中，微软明显提到了"Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) "和"Windows XP SP3"字样。
由此可以看出，XP SP3的确是存在的，根据之前的报道，SP3将会在Vista SP1之后发布，估计是2008年。不过，微软或许会视Vista的市场表现决定是否继续为XP这个经典的操作系统版本进行更新，毕竟微软不想让XP抢了Vista的饭碗。
